New(ish) Curated Newsletters To Check Out
Looking for a little inspiration from fellow Curated newsletter creators? Here are two that I’m loving:
Mississippi River Delta News from Restore the Mississippi River Delta.
This one hits close to home (I grew up in Mississippi). This coalition includes Environmental Defense Fund, National Audubon Society, the National Wildlife Federation, Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, and the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation. Their newsletter rounds up Delta related news and headlines.
Big Podcast Insider from David Hooper of Big Podcast.
If you run a podcast or are considering one, his digest of tools, news, and courses might inform some production decisions.
Thanks for using Curated to do great work, y’all.

Did You Know You Can Expand Text Boxes in Curated?
This week’s “Curated News” feature is a hidden feature to some and a “duh” to others.
Have you ever been filling in the body paragraph of an item in Curated and wished the text box was a bit bigger? You can make it bigger using a small feature that’s been there all along. All you have to do is click and drag the bottom right corner of the box to expand it, as the GIF above shows.
We found out recently that not as many users understood this is an option as we’d like. So... now you know.

🎥 How To Automate Parts Of Your Link Collecting Workflow
Last week at Newsletter Fest, we ran a handful of sessions for Curated users and one of my favorites was Advanced Link Collecting: How to Curate Like a Pro. I’m admittedly a little simple in my curation workflow (it all goes into Curated and then I whittle from there). Now that I’m 28 issues in, I’m interested in upping my game.
Seth, Calvin, and Wade to the rescue. They demonstrated a few different workflows that include using Zapier to connect Curated to content curation tools like UpContent, Feedly, and Pocket, or creating newsletter folders in Bublup.
The bottomline: If you tend to process a ton of content (like me), consider creating a content sieve of sorts with these automations. You’ll then have a large pool of choices that you narrow to a smaller selection that is sent to Curated. Only those links will be waiting to be imported and contextualized in an upcoming issue.
And a little news: These Zaps have been updated to bring in images.
I’ll keep you posted as I implement one or more of the approaches in this video. In the meantime, if you use one of these workflows, let me know what you love about it.
We Just Launched A Newsletter Fest Community
Even if you’re not attending Newsletter Fest (why not?), you are welcome to join this Slack community we’ve created to be a live resource during the event but also serve as a place to engage after it’s over.
Any channel suggestions? So far we have some for use during the event (discussion, support, etc.) but we’ve also added an introductions and a newsletter jobs channel to allow people in this industry to interact and share. Let us know if you have ideas.

We’re Grabbing Images And Meta Data Now
Exciting news, Curated users:
The Curated Chrome extension and all bookmarklets now automatically bring in more data when you collect a link.
We know you’ll love the automatic image grabber (because you’ve been asking). Now, when you save a link to your publication, it will automatically pull in the social share image associated with the link (if there is one).
For articles and blogs, it will pull the social share image. For videos, it will pull the thumbnail.
You’ll also get the meta text of the link you’re saving, which you might use to jog your memory as you draft your commentary or description. Note: if you highlight copy before you collect that copy will replace it.
Also, if you don’t use photos, you’ll just click Remove either as you collect or as you draft your next issue.
