How To Strategically Clean Your Email List
Hey everyone, Seth here.
In this month’s issue of Not a Newsletter, deliverability expert Yanna-Torry Aspraki shares some best practices around list management, avoiding spam traps, and how cleaning your list of unengaged subscribers is ultimately good for your newsletter.
You can read all of Aspraki’s insights here.
If you want to follow Aspraki’s advice and clean your list in a strategic way, you can do that in Curated by using the Activity Filter in the Email Subscribers page to send unengaged subscribers a reconfirmation email. It asks them if they want to stay subscribed to your newsletter. If they don’t click “Stay Subscribed”, then they’ll be unsubscribed from your list.
Note: Engagement is filtered by how long it’s been since a subscriber clicked a link. Try using 6 months or a year to see what percentage of your total subscriber list might be ready to unsubscribe.
You can learn more about our reconfirmation workflow here.

How To Edit The Subject Line & Preview Text Of Your Curated Newsletter
Seth from Curated Succsess here.
An email’s subject line and preview text help you set expectations and increase engagement. With Curated, you can edit the subject line and preview text for each newsletter issue you create. Here’s how:
You can use the subject line to catch the attention of your readers (we like to copy/paste emojis from Emojipedia) and hint at the content of each issue. The preview text can then be used to further tease what’s inside.
The Issue Summary has an additional function: acting as the title of an issue on your publication’s Archives page (example).
Why this matters
Some email builders just pull preview text from the first words of your email, which may be things like “View in browser” or ”Hey, [NAME]” or “Image title.”

How To Curate As A Team
Hey everyone, Seth from Curated Success here.
Did you know Curated supports working as a team to build newsletters? You can invite unlimited users to a publication at no extra charge. That means can have a team of curators, editors, and writers who all work on different parts of the newsletter.
How to invite users:
Why adding teammates is helpful:
More users collecting links means the work of collecting isn’t just one person’s job. Plus, you’ll get a more diverse selection of content. When a user saves a link using Curated’s link collection tools, it’s sent to the Collected Items page in Curated. Here, an editor can select what to include in the next issue and immediately import it.
How to keep it simple for link contributors:
You can invite a colleague to your publication, give them their secret email address, and ask them to email any links they think would be good for your publication. This way, they can contribute relevant links without needing to log into Curated.
Do you curate as a team? Let me know!
